German Galileo Test and Development Environment GATE is Awarded Certificate from TÜV SÜD
Awarded by the independent third-party certifier TÜV SÜD and validated by the independent company NavCert GmbH, this certification confirms the conformance to the international standard ISO 17025 for test laboratories, the conformance to receiver integrity testing (RAIM) for Safety-of-Life (SoL) applications and the high precision GNSS signal generation quality and the Galileo Signal-In-Space (SIS) conformance of signal characteristics and signal quality of the Galileo test and development infrastructure GATE.
"We were impressed by the overall quality of the system to fulfil all relevant requirements and by the strong commitment of the operator IFEN ", said Martin Grzebellus, Managing Director of NavCert GmbH. "The certification of the Galileo test and development infrastructure GATE as an Galileo open-air test laboratory which is also able to perform receiver integrity testing (RAIM) for Safety-of-Life (SoL) applications marks the next important step for Galileo from laboratory into space", explains Dr. Günter Heinrichs, Head of Customer Applications and GATE Project Manager. "We are delighted to receive this certification, which shows again the importance of GATE for the development and testing of Galileo equipment and applications especially in the light of the upcoming launch of the first two Galileo IOV satellites".
GATE has now finalized its signal upgrade and certification phase. The GATE test infrastructure is now capable of transmitting the Galileo OS, the Galileo Safety-of-Life (SoL) Service (functional), the Galileo Commercial Service (CS) and a Galileo Public Regulated Service (PRS) dummy signal.
The GATE system upgrade has been further extended to also support user integrity testing. GATE is now capable of simulating simple feared events on system/satellite level, so that the GATE system will support GPS and GATE/Galileo dual constellation RAIM, individual user integrity test scenarios as well as test of receivers with different RAIM functionalities.
NavCert GmbH as part of the TÜV SÜD group offers support regarding the development and the marketing of products and services of positioning and navigation systems. The service range consists of testing, certification and related consultancy for consumer products, safety critical components, products and system for Galileo and EGNOS.
