The metro network in Barcelona covers about 119 kilometers. With a light-rail fleet of 171 vehicles and about 385 million journeys per year, it is one of the leaders in the field of European local public transport.

In terms of the renewal of the radio system, Metro Barcelona has chosen a DMR trunking system from Hytera. This type of trunked radio is designed especially for sophisticated voice transmission and dispatcher communication. Apart from the fully IP-based system architecture and centralized networking, Hytera DMR Trunking is based on a modular design of the system components.

In close cooperation with its partner, ADTEL, the company will install the 58 base stations on site in the coming year. As well as the radio system, Hytera is also the supplier of the total of about 1,000 radios of the PD785 and MD785 types.

“Our professional and perfect marketing efforts and the ideal selection of the right project partners were the key to our success in winning this significant metro reference project,” declared Marco Martinato, Vice President Sales at Hytera Mobilfunk.
