Die Situation ist leider bekannt: Trotz sorgfältiger Vorbereitung stellen sich bei der Inbetriebsetzung auf der Baustelle Planungsfehler von der mechanischen Konstruktion bis zur Software in den Automatisierungsgeräten heraus, welche den Aufwand für die Inbetriebsetzung (IBS) unerwartet erhöhen und die Projekttermine gefährden. Für eine virtuelle IBS, die vor der Auslieferung beim Lieferanten stattfindet, wird die Produktionsumgebung in dem Umfang wie benötigt simuliert und die steuernde Original-Automatisierungssoftware mit dieser virtuellen Anlage getestet.
