High-Tech for the Senses
At the launch of a series on the topic of "education", the customer magazine of Heidelberger Druck AG (Heidelberg) asked UN Secretary General Kofi Annan why education and knowledge are of key importance, particularly in the age of globalization. The editorial staff also organized a round of discussions in which seven print experts from six nations highlighted the value of education for the industry. Furthermore, the authors asked Werner Albrecht, Chairman of the Management Board at Heidelberger Druckmaschinen Vertrieb Deutschland GmbH and Head of the Market Center Germany/Switzerland, why employee qualifications are essential, especially in high-wage countries such as Germany.
Using the German company Druckstudio GmbH, Watson Printing from Scotland and the Brazilian FacForm as examples, the magazine highlights how these very different printing companies have been able to turn smart ideas and Heidelberg high-tech into profitable unique selling points. Heidelberg News also introduces its readers to the range of functions supported by the new cold-foil module FoilStar, presents the Eurobind 4000, the new "James Bond of perfect binders", and looks at the burgeoning popularity of the Speedmaster SM 102, which German company Schlüter GmbH is using in its clean room to print packaging and information leaflets for medications.
Finally, readers are introduced to Georg Kremer and Jürgen Riedlinger, two ink manufacturers whose corporate philosophies are like chalk and cheese.
