HB Leisure consolidates international presence through significant contract with Dubai Global Village

(PresseBox) (Llandudno, North Wales, ) HB Leisure - leading provider of skill games and amusements for theme and amusement parks, zoos and visitor attractions - has further consolidated its worldwide reputation with the announcement of a significant new contract for a major new international attraction at Dubai's Global Village. This is HB Leisure's second major contract signing in the past month, following on from being awarded a further five-year contract with Blackpool's Pleasure Beach.

HB Leisure makes further inroads into Middle East sector with another Dubai contract

Further establishing its international leadership presence, HB Leisure is delighted to announce that it has been awarded the contract to provide games for Dubai Global Village's major new Fantasy Island attraction. Working in partnership with leading events organisation, The Mellors Group, HB Leisure will be providing 16 fun fair-style games and an extensive offering of coin operated amusements in the Coney Island-themed attraction which opened on 5th October and runs until 1st March, 2014.

This completely new attraction comprises a 14,000 square metre site with around 30 rides and features offerings for both children and adult extreme-experience seekers, all themed around the US' famed Coney Island Fun Land.

HB Leisure has created bespoke new buildings for the games and introduced four brand new games, as well as providing firm favourites such as Fried Frogs, Cat Rack and Lobster Pot - all perfect fits for the Coney Island theme.

At the event HB Leisure has employed more than 50 local staff for the five month period, together with a dozen experienced Games Managers and Team Leaders drawn from its European operations.

HB Leisure's Operations Director, Eddie Lehart, noted: "This is a unique event in Dubai, aiming to attract over 5 million visitors and is a completely different concept for the Global Village. This is planned as a major international attraction appealing to visitors worldwide and we are delighted to be part of it.

"It will be a great pleasure working with the Mellors Group. We already have an excellent working relationship through them joining us at Dubai's Festival City previously and now they have awarded us this partnership. We are delighted to have been included in this amazing new venture."

For the Mellors Group Edward Mellors commented: "This is a significant new contract and it was vital that we had the right partner. Having already developed a relationship with HB Leisure we knew they were on the same page as us and fully understood the Dubai market - as well as having the international expertise needed to be able to provide attractions targeted at a worldwide audience."

Opening up the Middle Eastern sector

This is the latest step in HB Leisure's international development. It already has presence in major attractions in California, Florida, Germany, Italy, Holland, Belgium, France, Spain, Denmark, Malaysia and South Africa. In the Middle East HB Leisure has a well-established reputation through operations in Bahrain, Kuwait, Saudi Arabia, Oman and a host of sites in Dubai that include the Mall of the Emirates and Dubai City Centre. With over 16 years' experience in the region HB Leisure has also recently signed a new contract to provide managed skill games with the Al Hokair Group in Abu Dhabi.

Eddie Lehart added: "We have a strong presence in the Middle East with our operations in Dubai (including a series of festival events that include the Dubai Summer Surprises at the Dubai World Trade Centre) and have recently completed a major festival in Qatar. We are now actively looking to develop business in Bahrain and Kuwait, based on our understanding of regional business here and our experience."
