Handtmann HBZ CompactCell live in South Korea and England: High speed cutting on small footprint

In April this year, Handtmann will be presenting two sizes of the series HBZ CompactCell (300/100 and 200/100) live at the international exhibitions SIMTOS (South Korea) and MACH (England)

Baienfurt, (PresseBox) - Customers of the Handtmann HBZ CompactCell (possible palette sizes: 2x1, 3x1, 4x1m) are particularly impressed by the high performance (cutting volume up to 7.8 liter in aluminium) and in consequence by the resulting decline in costs per unit, which the compact machining centre allows on only a small footprint. This combination of high performance and small footprint of the 5-axis horizontal machining centre will be demonstrated live by Handtmann in this year's April, by presenting the HBZ CompactCell parallel at two international exhibitions and showing the machines live in production.

The MACH in Birmingham / England is platform for the first public presentation of the standard version and so-called "stand alone" machine in the UK market. With a palette size of 2x1 meters - without optional automation, spindle with max. 75kW and 20,000 rpm - the horizontal machining centre is displayed at the booth of Handtmann representative Engineering Technology Group from April, 16th to April, 20th. Almost at the same time, Handtmann shows on the other end of the world - from April, 17th to April, 22nd at SIMTOS in Seoul / South Korea - one of the developments in standard machines of this series: The HBZ CompactCell 300/100 for machining aluminum up to 3x1 meters and palette automation on rails. This automation allows the user friendly set-up of a second palette, while the first workpiece is under production. Thus, unproductive and costly downtimes are reduced notably. The result is high output and low costs per piece. The machine works with spindle power up to 52kW and 30,000 rpm and offers travel paths of 3,650 x 1,100 x 550mm. The presentation of this machine concept will take place at the booth of the Korean Handtmann representative ENA Trading Co. Ltd. The concept of the HBZ CompactCell is already established in the Asian and especially in the Korean market.

The main advantages of the vertical position of the palette during the machining process are the vertical drop down of chips and coolants. This not only reduces the cleaning efforts for the machine operator, but also reduces time, optimizes the workpiece quality and extends the tool life time.

At both shows, the two machines will demonstrate the compact machine concept for horizontal machining by machining a workpiece of the aerospace industry. This is in fact the branch for which the Handtmann horizontal machining centres have been designed for, as aircraft manufacturers and respectively aircraft suppliers primarily aim for: low costs per piece, unit costs, high output and best surface quality.
