Many applications in the industrial automation do not need general purpose high-performance CPU cores but rather processor AMCs which are tailored to the demand of such applications
The NAMC-8560-IO is equipped with an MPC8560 (667MHz or 1GHz) and provides 256 MByte memory, 32 MByte Flash. Additionally to a PCIexpress interface and a Gigabit-Ethernet interface at the backplane, another Gigabit-Ethernet interface is available at the front panel. Thus connections to cameras or EtherCAT-IO can be easily realized.
The MPC8560 can then process the acquired data and forward these by PCIexpress or Gigabit-Ethernet via the backplane.
For operation in the PCIexpress environment, the NAMC-8560-IO can be configured by an on-board switch to act as a system host (PCI Root Complex) or as slave.
Thus being the main processing entity the NAMC8560-IO can be easily combined with other AMC modules, i.e. such as for digital IO, ADC, DAC, ARINC. Multi processor systems can be built straightforward using the NAMC-8560-IO, too, i.e. one NAMC8560-IO as host and others as slave.
