Docked: Mobile Bluetooth®Printer for Psion WORKABOUT PRO Developed by GeBE

Germering, (PresseBox) - Miniature printer specialist GeBE Elektronik und Feinwerktechnik GmbH in Germering near Munich is introducing a portable printer that can be docked to the handheld computer Psion WORKABOUT PRO. It was developed in cooperation with GeBE customer Blackroc Technology Ltd in Stafford, Great Britain. This very versatile solution also lets the printer be detached and carried on the belt instead. Thermal printer GPT-4337 is controlled via Bluetooth® and can be connected with other devices. A small paper roll (paper length app. 11 m) keeps the device slim and, most notably, light. Based on the established Easy Loading technology, exchanging the paper roll is a very convenient process. The custom-developed printer is now available to all GeBE customers.

Detached - Fist-Size Printer on the Belt

Intelligent handhelds simplify work, and most of the time, they require a printer. GeBE has been working on a printer solution for the Psion WORKABOUT PRO, originally a custom development. It has its own rechargeable battery and power management. The advantage of the separate supply is that high printing currents won t have any negative effect on the network of the handheld. The fist-size printer works wirelessly through Bluetooth®, also in connection with other devices, and can alternatively be carried on the belt of the user.

Complete and Slim Solution

The very slim design of this handheld computer including printer and small paper roll makes it easy to transport. For easy paper roll exchange, the established Easy Loading technology is also used in this product. The paper only needs to be inserted without any type of threading in order to continue printing. The paper roll with a diameter of 31mm and a length of 11m requires frequent paper roll exchanges, but they can be performed in a heartbeat. The small replacement rolls are very easy to carry. The printer prints on 58mm paper width.

Integrated and still Mobile - Custom à la GeBE

This latest product development from the GeBE Elektronik und Feinwerktechnik GmbH lab combines two popular ways to attach a miniature printer to a handheld, uniting the integrated printer solution with the mobile one. This creates an extremely high degree of flexibility. The top-heaviness of the complete device that is often found with integrated versions was avoided by positioning the printer at the bottom of the handheld. On the contrary: The handheld computer with the printer attached to the bottom of it nicely fits in your hand and is easy to operate this way. Another convenient feature is the fact that the NiMH battery packs (900mAh) can be quickly exchanged by using a coin. The print speed is about 60 mm/s.
