Fujitsu brings update for ATX mainboard D3348-B of the Extended Lifecycle Series
Support of Intel® Broadwell processors
Intel-C612 chipset for high performance
M.2 option via carrierboard
Fujitsu introduces a new version of the proven ATX Motherboard D3348-B. One of its new features is the extension of the supportet processors. To date, the board was designed for Haswell processors XEON E5-16xx was / designed 26xx V3 and i7-59xx (Haswell-E). Moreover, the future Broadwell processors XEON-E5 16xx/26xx V4 and i7 (Broadwell-E) can now be used. Instead of DDR4-2133 memory the board now supports DDR4-2400. In addition, the Trusted Platform Module chip has been updated to TPM 2.0, thus expanding the safety functions. The D3348-B2 addresses customers in need of powerful CPUs on the cutting edge of technology.
The mainboard is equipped with the Intel® C612 chipset. It allows Intel Standard Manageability and Intel® vPro technology for remote maintenance and Trusted Execution Technology (TXT). In addition, the chipset offers optimized support for Intel Xeon processors and ECC memory. As for all of the Extended Lifecycle Series models Fujitsu guarantees a board availability of at least three years and strict revision control. Through the use of solid capacitors, the D3348-B is specified for a service life of 45,000 hours in 24/7 continuous operation.
Despite the advanced computing power of CPUs with up to 160 watt high-efficiency power converters provide the lowest possible power consumption in all operating states. The Fujitsu D3348-B also has extensive expansion capabilities: It has four PCIe x16 and three PCIe x8 slots, four USB 3.0 and nine USB 2.0 ports and ten SATA (600) ports with RAID support ( 0, 1, 5, 10). The basic layout of the D3348-B2 has not changed compared to its predecessor D3348-B1, thus customers can easily convert. As an accessory, Fujitsu offers the PCI x8 expansion board D3352 for M.2 SSD modules that enable high-end data transfer rates and minimal boot times. Thanks to the plug-in card solution up to two M.2 SSDs can be integrated. In addition, there is no unneccessary use up of PCIe lanes for an onboard M.2 base.
Compared to the consumer chipset X99 the C612 offers extensive benefits such as an extended availability, ECC support, support for Intel Core i7 and Intel XEON processors, vPRO / iAMT Manageability and Trusted Execution Technology especially for professional and semi-industrial applications. Complemented with a strict lifecycle management and revision control and special features such as watchdog, 24/7 Design or Erase Disk - a BIOS function that offers deleting sensitive data on the hard drive with secure encryption technology - the industry capability is also strengthened. In addition to CE the D3348-B is also CSA / FCC approved. In particular, medical device manufacturers require these certifications.
The Board has proven particularly suitable for use in CAD workstations or medical equipment. Other applications include industrial server in 19 "rack format.
Peter Hoser, Sales Director OEM, Fujitsu
"For our customers in need of the state-of-the-art technology of desktop boards with the functionality for industrial use, we have revised the D3348-B. It is still based on the powerful C612 chipset, but now supports Broadwell processors. Thanks to our Lifecycle Management, users can rely on a guaranteed availability of at least three years and are informed of revisions in advance."
The mainboards manufactured in the Fujitsu factory Augsburg (Germany) are available through various industrial distributors such as Rutronik, MSC Technologies, Bicker Elektronik, Avnet Embedded, Review Display Systems and Braemac. Technical support is guaranteed by trained employees of distributors and by the experts from the factory in Augsburg. The team in Augsburg is also supported by the mainboard development (BIOS and hardware), sourcing and engineering of components, production and production technology as well as the in-house product compliance center and system engineering which are all located at the same site.
