Vilene® interlinings rank among the core competences of Freudenberg Nonwovens, and the company responds to the growing demands of customers with innovative solutions designed for leisurewear and active sportswear, workwear and protective clothing. The very latest innovation is bi-elastic 3D shaping interlinings that guarantee an uncompromisingly perfect fit for women's, men's and boys' outerwear. Another innovation is a soft, lightweight volume fleece that can even replace down as a warm lining. Evolon, the microfilament fabric, is the ideal choice for bathrobes and sports towels. It is 50 percent lighter than conventional material and can absorb up to 450 percent of its own weight in liquid.

Lutraflor® is the new generation of nonwovens for full floor molded automotive carpets, interior trim and throw-in mats. The enormous weight reduction of up to 40 percent combined with superior abrasion resistance and a luxurious appearance make Lutraflor® an enormously competitive innovative product. More than ever, environmentally-friendly and energy-saving technology is in demand today. According to experts, the number of cars in the world is expected to have doubled from the present 700 million by 2030, and to have tripled or even quadrupled by 2050. In the year 2020, every fourth new car taking to the road in Europe is expected to be a hybrid or electric vehicle. Freudenberg Nonwovens supplies the automotive industry with a key building block: Ultra-thin PET nonwovens coated with anorganic particles are used as separators in high-performance lithium-ion batteries. They ensure optimum ion flow, remain stable even at higher cell temperatures, and thus represent a major safety factor. Freudenberg separators not only pave the way in emobility, but are also an important safety-relevant component in batteries for energy storage. Another exciting application is protection of submarine cables. Viledon® water blocking tapes protect these cables against salt water. 90 percent of the swelling height is achieved within the first 60 seconds, thus effectively preventing water from penetrating the cable.

With the Vilmed® range, Freudenberg is adding soft, skin-friendly, multi-elastic backing materials to the medical applications product portfolio. Hydrogelling fibers are a main component of advanced wound care solutions, particularly for hard-to-heal wounds and protracted treatments. The portfolio includes high-performance activated carbon filters for various ostomy applications. These filters are engineered to remove malodors. Evolon® also offers solutions in the medical sector. This nonwoven fabric is used in anti-allergy bedding (Ökotex certified, product class 1): Thanks to its extremely fine microfilament structure and 100%- solvent free production process, Evolon forms a physical barrier against allergens.

The newly-developed bico fine-filament products in particular are suitable for numerous applications in a whole range of industries. The Lutradur® Fine Denier and Lutrabond Fine Denier spunlaid production processes allow the combination of two different polymers. These bico fine-filament products are universally applicable, cost-effective as regards finishing, easy to coat, laminate and impregnate, they are also weldable, sealable and characterized by high anti-abrasive properties. They can be used in applications ranging from coating substrates and reinforcement materials to technical packaging media.
