Fresenius Group donates over US$ 1.5 million in aid for victims of earthquake in China

Bad Homburg v.d.H, (PresseBox) - Fresenius is supporting the victims of the earthquake in the Chinese province of Sichuan by donating medical supplies and financial support totaling more than US$ 1.5 million. The company is also providing extensive humanitarian aid to the region to help the victims of the disaster.

Dr. Ulf M. Schneider, Chairman of the Management Board of Fresenius SE: "We extend our deep sympathy to the people in the affected region. A major concern of ours is to provide emergency help quickly. In addition to financial support our aid program also includes medical supplies such as blood volume replacement solutions for the injured, clinical nutrition products and dialysis machines. We are also providing comprehensive services to care for the people within the region affected by the earthquake."

Fresenius Medical Care and Fresenius Kabi distributed the supplies to the crisis region immediately after learning of the catastrophe. Fresenius will also participate in the rebuilding.

Fresenius Medical Care has provided hospitals with dialysis machines for the emergency treatment of acute kidney failure. Interdisciplinary teams of company employees, which included logistics experts, technicians, technical engineers and clinical specialists, undertook the delivery and setup of the equipment and provided support when the equipment was deployed. Fresenius Medical Care is also supporting the activities of various aid organizations such as the Hong Kong Kidney Foundation. Fresenius Medical Care is providing logistical and other services for aid organizations to ensure that hospitals receive the aid relief they need.

Fresenius Kabi has also contributed financial support and vital medical supplies, including products for infusion therapy and clinical nutrition. These resources are being distributed in coordination with the state authorities, aid organizations as well as a local hospital.

Employees of the two business segments in China also got involved in the relief effort by collecting donations.
