Freescale Honors Suppliers

Eight award winners recognized at Freescale Supplier Day

München, (PresseBox) - Freescale Semiconductor recognized eight companies with its prestigious Supplier Excellence Awards today at the Freescale Supplier Day. The event was held in conjunction with the Freescale Technology Forum in Orlando, Fla. The annual awards were presented to suppliers demonstrating excellent performance in providing value, quality products and services key to the success of Freescale and its customers.

"To meet and exceed our customers' demands, we strive to collaborate with suppliers who bring the best value, year after year," said Tom Linton, vice president and chief procurement officer for Freescale. "Today, we want to thank all of our suppliers around the world and especially recognize our top suppliers who serve as examples of excellence."

For 2006 performance, Freescale recognized suppliers in three categories and awarded one company the Supplier of the Year award.

Supplier of the Year Award recognizes a global key supplier regarded as the "best of the best" that maintained a consistent score in quality, value and services for all four quarters of a calendar year. Teradyne, a supplier of capital equipment and services to Freescale, is the recipient of this year's top honor. Last year, Teradyne received the Continuous Improvement Award from Freescale.

Gold Performance Excellence Award recognizes either a global supplier or regional supplier for Asia, Europe or the United States and goes to companies that have demonstrated outstanding performance for all four quarters of a calendar year. Criteria include quality, cost, on-time delivery, technology innovation and customer service. Global recipients include:
- Air Liquide - gases
- Hitachi Chemical Co. Ltd. - final manufacturing materials
- Senju Metal Industry Co Ltd. - final manufacturing materials
- Toppan Photomasks, Inc. - photomasks

Continuous Improvement Award recognizes the supplier that has shown consistent and marked progress toward improving supplier performance over time. Taiwan Semiconductor Manufacturing Corporation (TSMC) received the Continuous Improvement Award for wafer foundry services.

The Breakthrough Supplier Award recognizes a new supplier that demonstrated outstanding early effectiveness in working with Freescale. In 2006, two companies have been recognized for this award. UMC ramped to become a key wafer foundry for Freescale in 2006, and Carlson Wagonlit Travel (CWT) provided excellent service in helping to establish a corporate travel program at Freescale.

Nominations are made by Freescale's Global Procurement Organization and are based on suppliers' performance ratings in several categories such as quality, competitiveness, delivery, service and technology. Freescale's executive team reviews the nominations and makes the final selection of the top suppliers.
