Im März 2011 hat die Forschungsvereinigung 3-D MID e.V. die neue Marktstudie "MID-Studie 2011 - Markt- und Technologieanalyse" veröffentlicht. Im ersten Teil der Studie wird der deutsche MIDMarkt mit den Märkten in den Regionen Europa, USA und Asien gegenübergestellt. Es erfolgt eine Analyse der Verfahrenspräferenzen, wie hoch die Investitionen sind und wie sich der globale Markt entwickelt. Der zweite Teil, die Technologieanalyse, stellt den aktuellen Stand der Technik vor, bewertet Chancen und Grenzen auf Basis von Experteninterviews und gibt einen Ausblick auf künftige Handlungsfelder.
