Thermo Fisher Scientific To Present at EASTEC 2010
Thermo Scientific Niton XL2 Series and Niton XL3t Series Analyzers with GOLDD Technology Will Highlight Booth Demonstration
Jeff Walker, Thermo Fisher's business development manager for metals for Thermo Scientific Niton Analyzers, will deliver a presentation on "Using Thermo Scientific Niton Analyzers for Metal Alloy Identification and Fabrication Quality Control" on May 26 in the Innovations Theater in Building 1.
The company also will demonstrate its valueleading Niton XL2 Series XRF analyzer and its performanceleading Niton XL3t 900 Series handheld XRF analyzer with geometrically optimized large area drift detector (GOLDD) technology.
"With the introduction of the Niton XL2, we now offer a range of products to the metal fabrication, aerospace, foundry and related industries, which are engineered from the ground up to help eliminate any guesswork in verifying metal alloys for manufacturing quality assurance," said Walker.
He continued, "We know that the potential for material mixups is very real and that the need for traceability is a priority. Our nondestructive analyzers can provide a worryfree solution that takes control of material verification, recovery of lost traceability, analysis of finished welds to validate filler material and dilution, and confirmation of finished products - all without damaging samples in any way, which can save both time and additional testing expense."
A Family of Thermo Scientific Niton XRF Analyzers
Handheld Niton XL2 and awardwinning Niton XL3 Series XRF analyzers are purposebuilt for alloy analysis anywhere, anytime, with accurate results available in seconds, saving significant expense in comparison to traditional laboratory testing. These easytouse, nondestructive instruments provide integral storage of all test results, in a completely tamperproof data format. Multiple communication options include Bluetooth* wireless, USB and RS-232 serial communication ports.
They also come standard with Thermo Scientific Niton Data Transfer (NDT©) software, a suite of data management utilities that allows users to set operator permissions, print certificates of analysis to document results or operate the analyzer remotely from a PC. The NDT file format preserves and protects the data from each sample analysis, ensuring that this data is not unintentionally or intentionally compromised.
- Replacing the awardwinning Niton XLt analyzers, Niton XL2 analyzers are lightweight yet ruggedized for harsh production environments. Ergonomically designed and featuring a daylight readable display with large, intuitive icons, the Niton XL2 incorporates customizable menus for ease of use, multilanguage options and a standard analytical range of more than 25 elements. It is the ideal value instrument for small to midsize operations, to provide rapid results for confident decision making.
- Niton XL3 GOLDD analyzers deliver major improvements in sensitivity and measurement times, as much as 10 times faster than analyzers using conventional Si-PIN detectors, and up to 3 times more precise than those with conventional SDD detectors. Further, the Niton XL3 GOLDD measures light element content (magnesium, aluminum, silicon, phosphorus, and sulfur) without the need for helium or vacuum purging. This means it has the capability to accurately analyze additional grades including, titanium alloys, aluminum and silicon bronzes, and aluminum alloys for silicon and magnesium content - it can even identify SS303, SS416 and other freemachining stainless steels based on sulfur content. In addition, the Niton XL3 GOLDD includes an integrated CCD color camera to record an image of the actual test area along with the analysis data. The optional small spot feature allows users to isolate and test small sample areas, such as welds and seams.
