FIBARO begins cooperation with QNAP

(PresseBox) ( München, )
FIBARO, one of the fastest-growing companies operating in the smart home sector, a producer of the Internet of Things devices, is joining forces with QNAP, known for delivering comprehensive solutions of network attached storage (NAS) on an international scale. The solutions offered by the two companies are an answer to the expectations of the IoT market.

All of the features of FIBARO systems will soon be available for the owners of NAS servers provided by QNAP. We have combined our experiences and technological resources and made it possible to create a smart home by using a server and peripheral devices - motion sensors, leak sensors, shutter and lightning controllers, etc. QNAP NAS servers are one of the most recognizable IT brands in the world. Apart from being easy to use, the NAS devices come with advanced operational capabilities, high-capacity potential, and complete reliability and security.

FIBARO’s contribution means having access to the endless possibilities offered by one of the most innovative smart home systems in the world. Designed and produced in Poland, the system allows users to have complete and detailed control over the devices and installations both inside the home as well as in its vicinity. The design of the system is modular - you can easily add or remove components, which is a feature in the time of increased living flexibility and frequent house moves. The user may simply pack up the system and run it at a new location to experience the same level of comfort, safety, and energy usage management. Since FIBARO smart homes are completely wireless, there is no need for renovations or having to make tedious changes to your electrical system.

The hub is the heart of the FIBARO system - it manages all of the executive devices. Joining forces with QNAP will make it possible to transfer this function to the NAS server. The owners of such a server will only need to install the appropriate app and obtain a small USB Z-Wave stick which looks a lot like a regular pendrive. Becoming an owner of a smart home is as simple as that. However, in order to extend the functionality of such a server and create a “true” system, the final ingredients are needed - sensors and actors (executive devices). A setup of NAS servers and FIBARO software and technology will allow users to do the following: automatize lighting, heating, and security monitoring. They will also be able to manage shutters and windows as well as flooding and fire alarms, set complex scenes (programmed sequences of actions executed by home devices). Now they can play music or movies from their hard drive - from any place in the world.

When compared to the users of regular hubs, the owners of NAS servers have many more possibilities at their disposal and may incorporate into their smart home system in a variety of ways. Some of the most obvious ones include having a home multimedia center or an archive server for security footage. The official launch of FIBARO solutions for QNAP NAS servers is scheduled for 2017, but during this year’s edition of the CeBIT trade fair customers will have an opportunity to preview the integrated system at the QNAP booth (Hall 2, Stand C63).
