Packaging Theme Day to Introduce the New VITESSE Series from Ferromatik Milacron

(PresseBox) (Malterdingen, ) Injection molding machine manufacturer Ferromatik Milacron will present a Packaging Theme Day on May 13, 2009, at its main facility in Malterdingen, Germany. There the new high-performance VITESSE machine series will be introduced to a select group of 150 invited packaging experts.

Speed, Stability, Precision

The VITESSE takes its name from the French word for "speed," the most remarkable feature of the new machine series. The electric screw drive of the VITESSE allows for parallel functions, resulting in extremely short cycle times. The stability required for the excellent machine dynamics is provided by a reinforced machine base with linear guides. The result is reliable performance at the highest speeds.

Machine Configurations

The VITESSE continues the tradition of super fast high-performance injection molding machines from Ferromatik Milacron. VITESSE represent the evolution of design ideas introduced with the CAP-TEC in 2006. "The VITESSE goes a step further. Not only will it serve the packaging industry but also other sectors, such as the consumer goods," said Robert Burzler, Director Sales & Marketing at Ferromatik Milacron. "In response to market demands we have also extended the clamping force range with a 5,000 kN version", he added. The VITESSE comes in clamping force sizes of 2,000, 3,000, 4,000 and 5,000 kN, and can be equipped with injection units of international sizes 1,000, 1,650, 2,650 and 4,400. In total ten combinations are available.

The GreenLine Package

The VITESSE comes standard with Ferromatik Milarcron's GreenLine energy saving package, comprised of the three elements:

- Energy-efficient drive technology: The hydraulic pump comes with a high-efficiency motor
- Energy management: The hydraulic accumulator is only filled to the required level for each application - in addition, parallel movements are avoided where not needed, minimizing expensive energy peaks
- Energy measurement: detailed quantification of energy usage by cycle, hour, and shift

Remote Maintenance with Teleservice

The new VITESSE series also includes Ferromatik Milacron's Teleservice for remote-maintenance of machines and process optimization. Teleservice includes all the necessary hardware and software for connecting the machine to the internet. Machine data and parameters can be analyzed and modified from Ferromatik Milacron's main facility in Malterdingen, Germany. Since no technician needs to travel to the customer's facility to perform these services, both time and additional costs are saved.

Three-Phase Warranty Protection

Ferromatik Milacron provides a three-phase warranty package with the VITESSE:

- Full warranty up to 2 years, or 15,000 operating hours
- Warranty for electrical and electronic parts up to 3 years, or 22,500 operating hours
- Warranty for constructed parts of steel or cast materials up to 4 years, or 30,000 operating hours

Machine Demonstrations

At the Packaging Theme Day three machine exhibits will demonstrate the VITESSE in action. A VITESSE 200 with 2,000 kN clamping force and an international size 1,000 injection unit will be used to produce egg boxes on a single-cavity AWM mold with a cycle time of 1.9 seconds. This exhibit will also demonstrate Ferromatik Milacron's TELESERVICE for remote machine maintenance and process optimization. A 72-cavity mold from KTW on a VITESSE 300 with a clamping force of 3,000 kN and international size 2,650 injection unit will be shown producing caps with a cycle time of 2.6 seconds. A VITESSE 400 with a clamping force of 4,000 kN and an international size 4,400 injection unit can be seen in a manufacturing cell with an In-Mold-Labeling system from Star Automation. This machine will produce bucket lids in a 2-cavity Abate Basilio mold with IML at a cycle time of 5.3 seconds.
