The Goportis Consortium in Germany Selects Rosetta from Ex Libris

Rosetta's rich preservation functionality, its flexible, scalable architecture, and its successful track record were decisive factors in the consortium's decision

Hamburg, Germany, (PresseBox) - Ex Libris® Group is pleased to announce that the Goportis consortium has selected the Rosetta digital preservation solution to provide sustainable access to digital resources for future generations. With the Rosetta infrastructure and technology, Goportis will preserve the collections under its members' guardianship and facilitate access to these collections.

Goportis provides a comprehensive portal to a vast wealth of resources housed in the three member libraries of the Leibniz Library Network for Research Information. As central libraries, the Goportis members have a mandate to index, store, and provide access to all the resources in their collections in perpetuity. An increasing proportion of these libraries' collections consists of digitized and digitally born materials, including both textual and audiovisual content.

"Rosetta is a powerful tool to meet the challenges of longterm preservation," commented Uwe Rosemann, chairman of the Goportis steering committee and director of the German National Library of Science and Technology (TIB). "We are now well equipped to deal with the collection and preservation of digital material successfully."

"The decision by Goportis to adopt Rosetta reaffirms our leading position as a provider of digital preservation solutions," observed Ullrich Jüngling, vice president of sales at Ex Libris Germany. "Rosetta is the only solution on the market that offers the complete functionality of longterm preservation planning, enables institutions to manage and mitigate risks related to digital formats, and empowers libraries to perform the complete cycle of preservation actions."
