The Alma Community Exceeds 150 Institutions as University of Windsor's Leddy Library Selects Ex Libris Solutions

The Canadian university marks its 50th anniversary with a decision to adopt next-generation Ex Libris Alma and Primo

(PresseBox) (Chicago, IL, )
Ex Libris® Group, a world leader in the provision of library automation solutions, is pleased to announce that the University of Windsor, a member of the Ontario Council of University Libraries (OCUL), has selected the Primo® discovery and delivery solution and the Alma library management service. Alma's automatic workflows and unified approach to the management of electronic, print, and digital resources will significantly improve library efficiency while also offering a range of new user services through Primo.

Alma will replace multiple systems that are now in use-among them, the open-source Evergreen integrated library system. Primo will provide comprehensive discovery of library resources and will leverage Alma's smart fulfillment capabilities to optimize access to collections in all formats.

"The decision to move our discovery and resource management solutions to the cloud and integrate them with campus systems is a central plank of our new strategic plan and coincides with the University's 50th anniversary," commented Dean of the Library Gwendolyn Ebbett. "The Leddy Library is keen to modernize and upgrade the services that we offer both individual researchers and the institution as a whole. With the Ex Libris next-generation cloud solution, our staff will be able to substantially cut the time spent on routine processes and instead focus on facilitating successful academic outcomes for students and faculty."

Mark Triest, president of Ex Libris North America, remarked: "The University of Windsor joins the 150-strong global Alma community, which includes institutions that previously used a variety of open-source or commercial systems, including Ex Libris Aleph or Voyager. The growing trend of providing cloud-based services for library staff and users highlights libraries' desire to improve operations while introducing new services that focus on the evolving needs of their campus community. As a result, academic and research libraries are expanding their traditional roles and driving the successful realization of institutions' scholarly aims."
