Ex Libris Signs with Publishers and Aggregators to Add Their Content to the Primo Central Index

The inclusion of additional global and regional collections will further enrich the content made available via the Ex Libris Primo Central Index of scholarly e-resources

(PresseBox) (Jerusalem, Israel, ) Ex Libris® Group, a world leader in the provision of library automation solutions, is pleased to announce that it has signed agreements with numerous content providers to add their collections to the Primo Central Index. Primo Central will now provide access to Bridgeman Education content; the ECONIS database at the German National Library of Economics-Leibniz Information Centre for Economics (ZBW); the Manuscriptorium Digital Library at the National Library of the Czech Republic; the China/Asia On Demand collection from Oriprobe Information Services; three C. H. Beck journals; and content from Woodhead Publishing, the World Bank, and World Scientific. These publishers join the rapidly growing number of leading information providers who are partnering with Ex Libris to provide instant access to their online content.

Offered as a cloud-based service to hundreds of libraries around the globe, the Primo Central Index is an integral part of the Ex Libris Primo® discovery and delivery solution. Providing library users with a one-stop service for their information needs, Primo enables users to explore their library's locally managed collections along with global and regional resources indexed in Primo Central.

"Enabling the Manuscriptorium content to be discovered and used by researchers is our primary goal," noted Adolf Knoll, director for science, research, and international cooperation at the National Library of the Czech Republic. "The Manuscriptorium project offers seamless virtual access to digital documents related to historical book resources up to the year 1800, particularly old manuscripts, from more than 90 European institutions. This vast collection of historical resources will become more easily and widely accessible as a result of this agreement with Primo Central."

"China/Asia On Demand (CAOD), now including close to 10,000 journals, is popular with libraries around the world as a comprehensive repository of valuable scientific, technical, and medical information from China," commented Frank Liu, chief customer officer at Oriprobe. "The Primo Central Index will further promote this leading authoritative scholarly resource, and Ex Libris customers will benefit from instant access to a huge selection of Chinese research materials."

"We are delighted to welcome these content providers to the Ex Libris publisher program," commented David Beychok, vice president of discovery and delivery solutions at Ex Libris. "The addition of important Asian and European collections demonstrates our commitment to regional as well global scholarly resources. With the ongoing development of Primo Central, we are continuing to meet the goals of publishers and libraries and to fulfill the needs of scholarly researchers."
