EyeVision now also supports FLIR cameras

The EyeVision image processing software now also supports the digital cameras by FLIR.

The Blackfly S GigE and USB 3 cameras as well as USB 3 Vision cameras, which currently use the Spinnaker SKD are supported. And also after FLIR applies the Spinnaker SDK also to other cameras, those will also be supported by EyeVision. This means the Blackfly as well as Grasshopper cameras. They will work with EyeVision via plug&play.

The highly efficient digital cameras by FLIR Integrated Imaging Solutions Inc., are worldwide used for applications in industrial environements, medical technology, bio technology, traffic engineering, biometrics, geographical information system and for the counting of persons.

The EyeVision 3 software offers the necessary commands for this in a graphical user interface (GUI), where no programming skills are required. Thanks to the drag-and-drop combination possibilities of the inspection programs, applications such as Code Reading & OCR/OCV, metrology, pattern matching, object detection and counting as well as color inspection can be solved playfully.

With the plug&play principal for the integration of new cameras via the EyeVision integration-path, the supported FLIR cameras can be just plugged in and started with EyeVision almost just as easy as webcams, with either Windows or Linux.

FLIR cameras can now also be used with the brand-new Multi-Camera-Support, where more than one camera can be used with only one software license. In addition the camera settings of the individual cameras can be adjusted. Therefore the following is essential: one powerful computing unit + one EyeVision software + several cameras.

Furthermore from April 2018 the Deep Learning Tools of the EyeVision software can be used with GigE and USB cameras such as the FLIR cameras. The flexible architecture of TensorFlow, which EyeVision uses, allows the use of one or more CPUs, GPUs, DSPs or other processors.

One of the most demanding work when setting up new Deep-Learning-models is the classification of images for the training of the program. The EyeVision System Toolbox offers now an easy and interactive method to mark and train reference data in a succession of images. Therefore images can for example classified and evaluated with the help of Deep Learning.

The combination of FLIR cameras with the EyeVision software optimizes the way of how the quality check with the help of image processing can be improved for increasing not only the efficiency of the industry but also the public safety and the well-being for a healthy society.
