Esmertec's Jbed Java Solution selected by Sony Ericsson for their new XPERIA Mobile Phone Range

Cooperation sets new benchmark for web browsing and multimedia entertainment on mobile phones

Esmertec(TM) (SWX: ESMN), a leading edge provider of software platforms, applications and services to communication device manufacturers and mobile telecom operators, is pleased to announce that Sony Ericsson, a global leading provider of mobile phones, has selected Esmertec's Jbed Java Multitasking Virtual Machine to power its new revolutionary multimedia XPERIA(TM) mobile phone range. The first handset "X1" will be available in selected markets in the second half of 2008.

XPERIA X1 is Sony Ericsson's distinctive arc-slider mobile phone delivering a premium, converged mobile experience. It features among others a customizable "panel" interface designed for fingertip navigation, an 800x480 pixel touch screen, a wide-pitch keyboard and Web 2.0 communication for ultimate mobile browsing.

Esmertec's high performance Jbed Java platform is tightly integrated on X1 and contributes significantly to ensuring end users an enriched mobile user experience. With Jbed inside, end users will get fast, easy and stable access to Java-enabled content on the phone.
