Esmertec's Jbed Java Solution selected by Sony Ericsson for their new XPERIA Mobile Phone Range

Cooperation sets new benchmark for web browsing and multimedia entertainment on mobile phones

The first handset "X1" will be available in selected markets in the second half of 2008.

XPERIA X1 is Sony Ericsson's distinctive arc-slider mobile phone delivering a premium, converged mobile experience. It features among others a customizable "panel" interface designed for fingertip navigation, an 800x480 pixel touch screen, a wide-pitch keyboard and Web 2.0 communication for ultimate mobile browsing.

Esmertec's high performance Jbed Java platform is tightly integrated on X1 and contributes significantly to ensuring end users an enriched mobile user experience. With Jbed inside, end users will get fast, easy and stable access to Java-enabled content on the phone. In addition, the Jbed platform provides Sony Ericsson the best possible conditions for boosting innovation and a richer content on phones: Application developers will have access to a scalable mobile software platform that enable them to easily create and deploy cutting-edge Java applications and services across all phones in the XPERIA range. Thanks to its flexible nature, Jbed can also be seamlessly integrated with Sony Ericsson's new revolutionary technology, referred to as Capuchin.
