Electricity producers launch transparency initiative:
power plant data available online
By publishing production-relevant data, the companies intend to further strengthen the trust placed in the electricity wholesale market. Already today, the EEX is setting standards for transparency and liquidity in Europe. The common aim of the power suppliers is to enhance the efficiency of wholesale trade in electricity, promote competition and further increase liquidity. The companies see the fact that a customer-friendly, sector-specific solution has been reached as a major success. Customers benefit from improved market transparency. The frontrunners are calling on German and European power plant operators to join this initiative. They believe this is the only way to achieve a comprehensive view of the market.
Data made publicly available alongside installed capacity in Germany will include generation capacity available on a daily basis and broken down by energy source, followed by a certain lag by the amounts of electricity produced per hour. Anyone will be able to call up data on available capacity on any stock exchange trading day from 10:00 am onwards for the following day as well as for the 364 days thereafter. Quantities generated on the preceding day will be available from 4:30 pm onwards.
This voluntary initiative publishes data from electrical power plants generating 20 megawatts or more.
