Following meetings with Gazprom and the meeting held in Berlin on January 16th, 2009, between ENI, E.ON Ruhrgas, GDF SUEZ and the Russian Prime Minister, Vladimir V. Putin, the major European gas companies have elaborated and sent today together with OMV/EconGas to Gazprom a constructive proposal for a temporary solution allowing an immediate resumption of Russian gas flow to Europe through Ukraine.
The proposed agreement to Gazprom also matches all the necessary gas requirements as stated by Naftogaz of Ukraine for a short period of time enabling Gazprom and Naftogaz to reach their bilateral agreements.
