Centrostampa Digitalprint Guarantees Automation and Quality with Enfocus Switch and Enfocus PitStop Server
Enfocus brings the flexibility and versatility required for just-in-time services
With the combination of three different printing technologies, Centrostampa Digitalprint faced many workflow challenges. To meet these challenges, it was necessary to create a true digital infrastructure with fully automated production processes.
Centrostampa Digitalprint turned to Enfocus and decided to invest in Enfocus Switch. This automation solution enables powerful and automatated file management for repetitive tasks, such as sorting, routing and tracking files - tasks that almost every print company performs daily. The implementation was handled by Technosolutions.
Enfocus Switch is particulalry beneficial for hybrid production operations that use multiple printing technologies, as the automation it delivers helps to streamline processes, save time and increase productivity - all of which positively affect a company's profitability.
Caio Guardigli, prepress director, explains: "We needed an open architecture system that could address all of our printing technologies from a single input point and manage a range of third-party products. We also needed a solution that was highly customizable. These requirements are met with Enfocus Switch, using the Switch Core Engine, which is not only the basis for all Switch operations, but is an automation solution that addresses the most common, costly and time-consuming operations we face every day. Its ease of use is a major advantage - a prepress operator can create his own customized workflows. We also use various Switch modules to further enhance our operation."
In addition, Centrostampa Digitalprint uses Enfocus PitStop Server, which allows them to better manage workflow procedures and ensure file accuracy with PDF documents.
Modular approach adds to Switch value
Centrostampa Digitalprint has added a number of modules to meet its particular needs and automate more complex tasks, including the Configurator Module, the Metadata Module, the Scripting Module and the SwitchClient Module.
According to Guardigli: "With the Switch Configurator Module we've improved integration and automated third-party applications. Meanwhile the Metadata Module enables us to use the existing information stored in XML, JDF job tickets or XMP data. And with the Scripting Module we can take advantage of custom-developed Visual Basic Scripts, Java Scripts or AppleScripts, giving us the freedom to completely customize our workflow to a customer's specific needs."
Centrostampa Digitalprint offers high-quality print material for marketing and brand presentation in a variety of markets, such as automotive, wellness and interior design, which is used in many different applications and in B2B environments. Their typical customers are web agencies, photo studios and printers.
"With Enfocus products we've solved many production issues and created a tighter, more efficient process," continues Guardigli. "Initially huge amounts of information and files needed to be processed manually, now we've moved to a completely automatated file management. It has immensely improved our productivity and even creativity."
Order entry and management a breeze
With its new Enfocus Switch-based workflow, order entry and management is now simple. When the customer places the order and uploads files, the order and the files become a unique package that enters the Switch flow, and is managed using the metadata that comes with the job.
This package includes information required by prepress, and other information like shipping address and delivery date. The ability to use this embedded data ensures a smarter workflow. The contents of the metadata fields are used to make routing decisions in the workflow, to set working parameters in automatic operations, and more.
Centrostampa Digitalprint also uses the SwitchClient Module, a desktop application used to submit jobs into the Switch workflow and interact with jobs as required. It acts as a checkpoint, allowing the operator to verify the accuracy of the order and intervene if necessary for exception processing.
Guardigli adds: "Our new Switch-based workflow manages the entire production cycle, enabling us to reduce errors and standardize procedures. The result is a reduction in the cost and time needed to produce work, fewer errors, and happier customers."
The future is bright
Centrostampa Digitalprint has dramatically reinvented its prepress and production processes using its Enfocus Switch-based automated workflow.
Guardigli concludes: "Switch has made our operation much more efficient, and that is highly appreciated by our customers. It's also easy to use, which has made it simple and affordable for staff to create workflows tailored to each customer's needs. This has helped us increase customer loyalty and retention. Customers feel special, and they benefit from these customized automated workflows. They rely on us to continue improving our workflow so that they see tangible benefits in terms of more efficient, cost-effective production - which we're able to do using the extensive capabilities of Enfocus Switch."
"Customers especially appreciate the transparency made possible by the wide range of notifications that Switch automatically generates. They really like being kept informed 24/7 about the status of their order, from file input to proofing, production and shipping. And being able to easily implement these automated, and often customized, workflows means we can dedicate more time to improving quality and service, and explore new business opportunties."
