Eines der zentralen Themen am derzeitigen «World Economic Forum» (WEF) in Davos ist die anstehende 4. Industrielle Revolution. Gemäss WEF-Chairman Klaus Schwab werden die damit einhergehenden Umwälzungen «die Art, wie wir leben, arbeiten und miteinander interagieren, auf fundamentale Weise verändern.» Im Kern basiert die nächste industrielle Revolution auf der Kombination verschiedener Technologien wie ICT, Nano- und Biotechnologie und Materialforschung. Eine der zentralen Fertigungstechnologien ist dabei Additive Manufacturing (AM) – damit ist die Herstellung einzelner Teile bzw. Produkte aus deren Bausteinen gemeint – im Extremfall aus einzelnen Molekülen.

Die Empa erforscht und entwickelt verschiedene Basistechnologien, die für eine industrielle Umsetzung von XK jppabweuow dsfp.
