embedded brains: RTEMS unterstützt zukünftige Raumfahrtmissionen mit höherer Rechenleistung

Das Open-Source-Echtzeit-Betriebssystem RTEMS (Real-Time Executive for Multiprocessor Systems) steht für immer mehr Multicore-Prozessoren zur Verfügung. So hat die embedded brains GmbH, die einen RTEMS-Support im europäischen Raum anbietet, Anpassungen an ARM und PowerPC in den vergangenen Monaten fertig gestellt. Außerdem hat das Unternehmen einen umfangreichen Auftrag aus dem europäischen Raumfahrtbereich erhalten, um RTEMS an den SPARC-basierenden Quad-Core-Prozessor NGMP der ESA anzupassen. Im Rahmen dieses Auftrags wird unter anderem auch der SMP-Support von RTEMS so umstrukturiert, dass er wesentlich einfacher an neue Multicore-Architekturen angepasst werden kann.
