Broadband United receives expansion capital from Gruenderfonds
"BroadU's Interference Cancellation (IFC) technology enables xDSL signal transmission with higher bandwidth, longer range, and higher utilization of the existing cable infrastructure", says Michael Luebbehusen, Managing Partner of eCAPITAL and fund manager of the Gruenderfonds. "This technology is a big step towards nationwide DSL, because copper cable will continue to be the standard technology for many years, despite the roll-out of fibre optic cables", adds Nils Madeja, Senior Investment Manager.
"The bandwidth demand of commercial and private customers increases steadily. Still, many customers cannot get the needed bandwidth, due to crosstalk interferences on the existing copper cables", explains Dieter Finke from BroadU. "The roll-out of the fibre optic network is expensive and time-consuming. This is where we step in. With trials in Bavaria we have verified the improvement of the signals via copper cable with IFC. But without venture capital a sustainable, strong growth would not be possible in this market. With the Gruenderfonds and eCAPITAL we have not only secured the required capital but also found a reliable and competent partner for any questions regarding company development", says Georg Herrmann, BroadU.
Until now DSL is only available for commercial and private customers who are relatively close to a central office. In the future, it will become much more difficult to ensure DSL availability due to the increasing number of connections and the resulting increased interferences due to crosstalk. BroadU's IFC technology reduces these interferences on DSL-cables, thereby improving the availability and quality of DSL systems (SHDSL, ADSL, ADSL2+, VDSL2 etc.). Thus, IFC optimized DSL systems enable new high bit rate services, such as multimedia applications.
About Broadband United
Broadband United GmbH (BroadU) designs solutions to improve the transmission properties of existing copper telephone cables. Its solutions are all based on interference cancellation technology (IFC). BroadU developed IFC together with Vierling Communications GmbH, Eberstadt, Germany, the institute of information transmission, university of Erlangen, Germany, and iAD GmbH, Großhabersdorf, Germany, and other partners. IFC products reduce crosstalk interferences on telephone cables. For DSL signals, this means up to 100% faster transmission bandwidth and significantly more range and a better usage of the available cable infrastructure.
