Rhein-Ruhr Collin Opened New Headquarters
HVAC reseller invested 30 million Euros in the Kaßlerfeld Logistic Park / duisport company managed construction / Collin party and trade show to celebrate 20th anniversary
Rhein-Ruhr Collin KG disposes of a total area of 146,000 sq.m. for its operations in the Kaßlerfeld Logistic Park. Apart from various potential extensions for warehousing (23,500 sq.m.) and pipe storage (approx. 2,500 sq.m.), railroad tracks and switches can be accommodated on the tract "if and when shipments by train become an option," remarked Collin. A warehousing capacity of currently over 34,000 pallet bays allows the storage of more than 35,000 different items.
"We are a family business and we think like craftsmen," Collin described his approach. Against this background, it is hardly surprising that Collin's sons are already firmly installed in the management of the business where they are general partners. "Our partners in the building services engineering marketing organizations also take full personal liability for what they do," Collin revealed.
"Our 60 trainees have all an important role to play at our grand opening ceremony. They will receive our guests, take them through our trade show and product exhibition in our main building and seat them for luncheon," Collin explained this morning. The apprentices will also attend on the guests during the ceremony. Some 6,000 customers were even invited to visit the trade show today and tomorrow.
"Our employees are our most valuable resource," underlined Collin. For this reason he organized a separate party for company staff last week to celebrate the 20th anniversary of the corporation. In fact, Collin has every right to be proud of the fast increase in the number of persons working for Collin over the last twenty years. The business started out with 41 jobs on 1 January 1988. The staffing level jumped to 85 within one year. Today the Collin companies in Duisburg have a staff of about 270. "We plan to grow to 350 in the foreseeable future," announced Collin who sees his function as a go-between who links manufacturers and small businesses.
Collin will also be proud of his new training center. "It is probably unique in the Rhine/Ruhr region," he believes. The Center features facilities for practical hands-on customer and staff training on space heating and energy efficiency technologies. "Everybody benefits from the resulting networking effect," the entrepreneur knows.
The Kaßlerfeld Logistic Park is where contract logistics started in Duisburg some years ago when Kühne+Nagel, DHL and ABX made their investments. Companies such as U.S. automobile industry supplier Tower Automotive and Stahlrohr have since also set up in the Logistic Park. Over 100 new jobs have been created. "The Kaßlerfeld development began when the national oil reserve was reduced and an oil major returned land to the Port. This property was needed to have sufficient space for Rhein-Ruhr Collin," Staake recalled. Collin was also instrumental for the decision to build the urgently needed A 40 interstate exit. "Its completion by the end of 2009 will substantially reduce Logistic Park traffic, "remarked Staake.
