DIREVO Biotech AG, a leading company for superior bioengineered products and processes for industrial and pharmaceutical applications, announced today that an industrial enzyme protein engineering project in collaboration with Danisco A/S, has yielded a significantly improved phytase enzyme. The project exploited Direvo's high throughput, robotic screening and directed evolution technologies for enzyme optimization.
Phytic acid is the main phosphate storage molecule in plants. Phytase enzymes release phosphate from phytic acid and thus have applications in multiple industrial markets.
