Dem Forscherteam der Deutschen WindGuard Engineering GmbH ist es gelungen, im bestehenden akustisch-optimierten Großwindkanal durch diverse Optimierungsmaßnahmen und Grundlagenforschung Strömungsgeschwindigkeiten von über 100m/s zu erreichen.

Damit sind Rotorblattprofiluntersuchungen bei Reynolds-Zahlen von mehr als 6.000.000 möglich. "Der Windkanal erfüllt so alle Anforderungen, die seitens der Windenergie-Industrie im Rahmen von Profilentwicklungen gestellt werden.", so Dr. Knud Rehfeldt, Geschäftsführer der Deutsche WindGuard Engineering GmbH. "Bei diesen hohen Reynolds-Zahlen sind äußerst präzise Untersuchungen für die Rotorblattentwicklung Onshore wie Offshore möglich." Die Reynolds-Zahl ist eine wichtige Kenngröße bei der Übertragung von Modellversuchen auf reale Größenverhältnisse.
