DHL is launching the international initiative "Discover Logistics" on the inaugural nationwide "Logistics Day". The aim of the initiative is to make this fast growing industry accessible to as many young people as possible and inform them about the international career prospects which the logistics industry offers. Potential managers can already register for the world s first logistics business simulation on the online portal www.dhl-discoverlogistics.com. "As the world s largest logistics group, we offer challenging and trail-blazing management tasks on a global scale. And this is exactly what the "Discover Logistics" initiative covers," says Dr. Frank Appel, CEO of Deutsche Post World Net. "We are particularly happy that the German Foreign Minister Dr. Frank-Walter Steinmeier has taken on the initiative s patronage."
On the internet site www.dhl-discoverlogistics.com, people can sign up for "DHL Fast Forward - The first worldwide Logistics Business Simulation" and get started on the tasks from the first level of the game. After this first level, the best participants worldwide are grouped together into international management teams of five players, and are set the task of developing a virtual logistics company into a market leader within ten weeks. This requires logistics expertise, management talent and inter-cultural skills in equal measure.
For the final level of the game, DHL will invite the best teams to Deutsche Post World Net s Bonn headquarters in January 2009. The teams will then face the challenge of optimizing the service quality, customer orientation and innovative ability of their virtual companies.
During the business simulation, teams are assessed by a top-class jury from the worlds of business, science and media. The winners will receive attractive prizes with a total value of over EUR 50,000. These include management training, travel vouchers and an accessall- areas pass, plus VIP tickets, to top logistics projects like Formula 1 events and IMG Fashion Weeks. All finalists invited to Post Tower, Deutsche Post World Net HQ, have the chance to meet top management and get a glimpse behind the scenes of some of the world s most spectacular logistics projects. The accompanying entertainment program includes a high-ranking reception in the Foreign Office in Berlin.

com internet portal are also offered a wide range of multimedia and interactive information compiled in cooperation with Darmstadt Technical University. For example, the "Logbook - The DHL Logistics Compendium" offers logistics know-how, while a number of short films show DHL staff from around the world talking about their job and life at DHL.
