The Euro Bio-inspired Materials 2016 will take place for the third time in Potsdam, Germany from 22 – 25 February, 2016. The scope of the Euro Bio-Inspired 2016 is to provide an interdisciplinary platform for the discussion of novel developments and trends in the field of bio-inspired materials research.

Almost 180 participants from 20 countries worldwide have registered for the conference.

The scientific programme is now available and can be consulted on the Bio-Inspired homepage: http://bioinspired.inventum.de/the-conference/scientific-programme/

The programme comprises several invited plenary lectures, oral and poster presentations as well as a session related to the priority program 1420 (Biomimetic Materials Research: Functionality by Hierarchical Structuring of Materials) of the Deutsche Forschungsgemeinschaft. Moreover, the conference will accommodate a Winter School of the Priority Program 1569 (Generation of Multifunctional Inorganic Materials by Molecular Bionics).

This year the Euro Bio-inspired will feature the following keynote speakers:

Joanna Aizenberg, Harvard University, Cambridge MA, USA Novel Materials: Lessons from Nature
Olli Ikkala, Aalto University School of Science, Aalto, Finland
Self-assemblies, hierarchies and biomimetics based on supramolecular and supracolloidal motifs
Nils Kröger, Dresden University of Technology, Germany How to build a glass house: from Silica morphogenesis in diatoms to synthetic biology for biominerals
Olga Speck, University of Freiburg Germany
Biomimetics and education: challenge, opportunity and diversity
Molly Stevens, Imperial College London, UK
