Bilateral DFG/NSF Proposals - Collaborative Research in the Chemical Sciences
Extended Deadline due to the United States Federal Government Shutdown
Please note: No additional funds are available for support of these projects. All proposals will compete with other unsolicited proposals received by the NSF and DFG Divisions of Chemistry. Following a joint review process the NSF and the DFG will make joint funding decisions.
This call is only suitable for projects with a high degree of interaction between the German and U.S. investigators. Proposals with only loose German/U.S. cooperation, minor exchange of scientific personnel and funding only for the German partner can be sent to DFG at any time within the Individual Grants Programme (Einzelförderung).
All joint proposals must be submitted by the U.S. partner in the usual manner to FastLane and within the windows for submission of "Unsolicited CHE Proposals" (between September 1 and October 31, 2013). Please note: Due to the United States federal government shutdown the October submission window has been extended to November 15, 2013!
Specific instructions for German PIs
Applicants to be funded by the DFG are requested to fulfill the eligibility requirements of DFG Research Grants, see the corresponding guidelines of the Research Grants Programme, DFG form 50.01. This includes the "Kooperationspflicht" within Germany for members of non-university institutions with permanent positions.
Proposals within this call have to be submitted to the electronic proposal processing system (elan). After your log-in please use the respective link "Proposal for a Research Grant" in the Proposal Forms column. Please select the relevant announcement "DFG/NSF - Unsolicited Proposals in Chemistry 2013".
A proposal consists of the following parts:
- proposal data and obligations (only to be filled by the German applicants on elan)
- project description (replaced by an electronic copy of the joint proposal as submitted to FastLane) and appendices (CVs of the German PI(s), justification for software, consumables and instrumentation, quotes for instrumentation, etc.)
