CyBio AG: Turnover in first half year increased by 44%. Negative result was caused by set up R&D and production capacities.

(PresseBox) (Jena, ) CyBio AG, Jena, (German Stock Exchange: General Standard, ISIN-Number DE0005412308) reached a turnover of 9.1 Mio. EUR in the first half of 2007 and exceeded level on the previous year (2006: 6.3 Mio. EUR) by 44, 4 %. Earnings before interest and taxes (EBIT) are -1.689 Mio. EUR (previous year: - 551 kEUR). Liquid funds available at midyear 2007 amounted to 2.1 Mio. EUR (previous year: 6.2 Mio. EUR). Due to the successful capital increase mid of July 2007 liquid funds available increased by further 2.4 Mio. EUR.

Growth in turnover was mainly borne in the field of contract manufacturing. In the last months the serial production for Corning Inc. and CLONDIAG Chip Technologies GmbH starts duly and is generating an important contribution to turnover. Further growth in turnover is also coming from the automation business and proves the trend in industry towards integrated and complete solutions. Stand alone business is stagnating.

Sales regions Germany and Europe performed notably above expectations. Set up the own sales subsidiary in Japan in April 2007 presents first success in turnover. CyBio Japan Co., Ltd reached already a turnover of 250,000 EUR in the second quarter. To meet the growth in turnover the group result was lowered by the planned advance investments, especially in the production, service and R&D.

Our subsidiary CyBio Robotics GmbH (formerly accelab GmbH) has delivered its main project, an automated system for the production of synthetic genes to its customer Sloning BioTechnology GmbH in the last weeks. With this Know-how CyBio achieves access to a new innovative growth market.

Based on the business development so far this year CyBio is confident to achieve the projected turnover 2007. The total invested advanced costs will be affecting the result in 2007.
