France IX's infrastructure evolving to 100 Gbps with the help of Cube Optics
France IX, which had already anticipated the arrival of new members' connections by deploying MLX Brocade equipment, needs to develop now its infrastructure by upgrading the bandwidth between its PoPs (Points of Presence). The France IX core backbone, based on the 2 PoPs Interxion-5 and Telehouse-2, interconnected with 2x10 Gbps links up until now, is evolving to 120 Gbps. The connectivity of the four other edge PoPs will also be upgraded to capacities up to 20 Gbps or 40 Gbps.
France IX is relying upon Cube Optics' «Network Cubes» passive WDM technology. Network Cubes offer unparalleled evolutionary upgrades to handle the fast traffic growth experienced by France IX, while at the same time smoothing the expected investment over time. Network Cubes allow management of individual DWDM wavelengths but also of groups of eight wavelengths as a single entity, and feature best-in-class density, thus minimizing the use of expensive rack space and France IX operating expenditures. Finally, Cube Optics passive multiplexers minimize IP packet latency, thus contributing to a fluid Internet.
