Cube Optics announced that it has received RD Telecommunications acceptance from the Rural Utilities Service (RUS) division of the United States Department of Agriculture (USDA) for its Network Cube line of WDM fiber Mux/Demux and add/drop multiplexer products. Network Cubes are deployed in over 30,000 locations worldwide to remedy fiber exhaust, service migration of SONET, ATM or TDM service to Ethernet, and expansion of mobile backhaul fiber capacity. The products are passive and multiply the connections possible on existing single or dual fiber links. Demonstrating an exemplary track record of zero field failures over nearly a decade of deployments, the Network Cube has proven to embody highest quality, is simple to deploy and yields the most cost efficient alternative to resolve fiber exhaust issues.

Inclusion in the "A" (Telecommunications) "List of Materials" by the USDA RUS Technical Standards Committee provides Independent Operating Companies (IOCs) and Rural Local Exchange Carriers (RLECs) financial support enabling economically viable services in sparsely populated rural areas and remotely situated users including farms, parks and forests. The RUS program facilitates loans and grants for planning, construction, procurement and upgrade of networks to ensure equal access to the internet for all Americans.

Mark Carpenter focuses on introducing the Cube Optics portfolio to Telecom operators and technology partners in the USA. North American installations have involved network operators extending the useful life of their existing fiber plants without installing new fiber. Mark states "The simplicity, scalability and robustness of Cube Optics solutions are ideally suited for bandwidth upgrades of middle mile, access and enterprise networks without significant modification of existing infrastructure".
