Technology And Service Convince Engine Manufacturers
ContiTech Fluid Technology offers a comprehensive all-round package for industrial requirements
At first, ContiTech delivered about 70 different articles from the heating/cooling/charge air units in Waltershausen, Vac and Hedemünden. And they convinced them completely. Chris Holt, technical manager at Perkins said: "We are impressed by the wide range of materials and line products as well as by the technical knowledge and advising on the part of ContiTech. The effective selection of material really sped up the test phase on the engine. And that was important for the project with its very tight schedule."
Thus the next project was initiated shortly afterwards involving ContiTech Fluid Automotive, ContiTech MGW and ContiTech Thermopol. 80 various articles made of the materials EPDM, CR/NBR, AEM and silicone are supplied. In addition, ContiTech Fluid Technology also supplies three hoses from the heating/cooling area and an industrial hose from Korbach.
The successful project work gave rise to further production orders, making ContiTech Fluid Automotive the main development partner of Perkins for new projects.
Cooperation with the engine manufacturer DEUTZ has long since proven itself to be successful. DEUTZ offers the DVERT® modular system for its compact engines to reduce noise emissions and pollutants. A process is also already available for reducing nitric oxide emissions - SCR (selective catalytic reduction). It is presently used in large engine production. ContiTech Fluid Technology has developed the lines for this technology.
A heatable hose line module on EPDM basis that was especially designed for the transport of carbamide (Ad Blue) is used to transport the carbamide solution needed for breaking down the pollutants into harmless nitrogen and water vapor and prevents the vapor from freezing.
The SCR systems for industrial applications are particularly sophisticated since the engines are produced in numerous variants. The main challenge is that of optimally connecting the individual components linking the Ad Blue tank, the feed pump, and injector. An ideal compromise must be found for the components between flexural stiffness and flexibility.
But ContiTech supplies more than just the vehicle lines for SCR technology. It also produces the tank lines for the network of Ad Blue service stations now found virtually everywhere.
On top of that, ContiTech Fluid Technology has developed hoses and hose lines for the particulate filter that makes the Euro 5 standard available for all commercial vehicles with diesel engines. The hose lines represent the interface between the particulate filter and the control unit. Thanks to the use of various material combinations, these hose lines are resistant to sustained temperatures of up to 225? Celsius.
