Die LXI-Ethernet-Schnittstelle wird mehr und mehr als innovative und zugleich preiswerte Alternative zu der seit langer Zeit in der Messtechnik eingesetzten GPIB-Schnittstelle akzeptiert. Dies trifft auch in hohem Maße auf Stromversorgungsgeräte zu, zumal hier des öfteren viele Geräte in einem Systemverbund von einem Steuerrechner kontrolliert werden müssen. Der Hersteller Sorensen/Ametek hat dem schon sehr früh Rechnung getragen und bereits viele seiner Modellreihen mit dieser Schnittstelle, teilweise sogar standardmäßig, ausgerüstet (Vertrieb CME CompuMess Elektronik GmbH, 85716Unterschleißheim).

Nahezu alle PC's verfügen standardmäßig schon über eine Ethernet-Schnittstelle.
