Planar Transformers Combine High Efficiency, Excellent DCR and Very Low Leakage Inductance

Cary, IL, USA, (PresseBox) - Coilcraft has released two new series of surface mount planar transformers for power over Ethernet (PoE) and -48V network power applications. The PL160 Series is rated for 160 Watts between 200 kHz and 700 kHz with a nominal 48 V input, and the PL300 Series is rated to 300 Watts.

Both product series offer high efficiency, excellent DCR (as low as 7.2 mOhms), and very low leakage inductance (as low as 0.20 µH). They also provide 1500 Vrms primary-to-secondary isolation and 0.009 inch (0.229 mm) clearance above the seating plane. Both are RoHS compliant and feature matte tin over nickel over brass terminations. Both series can also be special ordered with an optional auxiliary winding.
