CHIRON at NORTEC and METAV
Live machining demonstrations will feature the compact single-spindle FZ 12K S five axis and the powerful DZ 15 W Magnum with two spindles, which CHIRON will present together with the integrated Flexcell Uno automation solution. Compact and fast: FZ 12K S five axis
The FZ 12K S five axis is a single-spindle machining centre for economical manufacture of components at the highest level of precision which can be used in many fields, including the watches and jewellery industry, medical engineering, machine and automobile manufacture and aerospace industry.
Three digitally regulated, directly driven axes provide - together with the integrated two-axis tilt rotary table - a compact 5-axis complete machining in the smallest possible space with excellent surface qualities. Direct, absolute path measurement systems in all axes guarantee the highest accuracy and process reliability.
Dynamic machining, fast set-up
Up to 177 possible tool places (in the background magazine) and the automatic exchange within two seconds reduce set-up times and make it easier to economically machine even challenging components. For production, the FZ 12K S five axis is especially dynamic and productive thanks to spindle speeds of up to 40,000 RPM, chip-to-chip times of 2.1 seconds, rapid feeds up to 75 m/min and powerful axis accelerations.
5-axis complete machining
Even complex workpieces can be easily and quickly machined at a high level of quality with the FZ 12K S five axis in a single set-up using the 2-axis tilt rotary table and its five simultaneously controlled axes.
The table, which has a swivel range of ±120 degrees, is digitally and directly driven with two CHIRON torque motors: the fourth axis with 100 RPM and die fifth, which can perform turning operations at speeds of up to 1,000 RPM.
Automation solution with two spindles: The DZ 15 W Magnum with Flexcell Uno
The powerful DZ 15 W Magnum machining centre, with its large work area, doubles productivity thanks to its two spindles, which CHIRON shows together with the integrated Flexcell Uno automation solution.
Spindle speeds of up to 20,000 RPM, chip-to-chip times from 1.7 s and tool changes within 0.9 s clearly show that the DZ 15 W Magnum is technically the equal of the single-spindle model of its series. When it comes to productivity, however, it is far ahead of the single-spindle versions, since the piece costs can be more than halved when double-spindle machining is employed.
Magnum: larger work area, longer traverse path
Compared to the standard model, the "Magnum" equipment version has a larger work area and also features longer traverse paths from 730 mm in the X axis, 400 mm in the Y axis and 425 mm in the Z axis. With these dimensions, the DZ 15 W Magnum is well suited for efficient serial production of medium sized components. For dynamic production, additional axis accelerations of up to 10 m/s and rapid feeds of up to 75 m/min are helpful.
Flexcell Uno: automated workpiece change
Linking the double-spindle DZ 15 W Magnum to the integrated Flexcell Uno automation solution, with its handling robot, workpiece storage unit and workpiece changing device, further increases the productivity of the machining centre: A robot can change a workpiece in about two seconds taking raw parts out of the storage unit with up to 24 pallets and storing finished parts back there after the machining. The pallets are replaced parallel to machining operation and without delaying production.
