CESifo Working Paper: Nein zum Mindestlohn

Die jüngste Einführung von branchenspezifischen Mindestlöhnen ermutigte viele Politiker und Verbände, einen flächendeckenden Mindestlohn in Deutschland zu fordern. Nach einer neuen Studie der CESifo-Wissenschaftler Andreas Knabe und Ronnie Schöb wäre dies jedoch ein schwerwiegender Fehler. Ein Mindeststundenlohn von 7,50 Euro würde bis zu 840.000 Arbeitsplätze vernichten und erhebliche Auswirkungen auf die Öffentlichen Haushalte haben. Schöb und Knabe rechnen mit mindestens 4 Mrd. Euro zusätzlichen Staatsausgaben, denen lediglich 1,1 Mrd. zusätzliches Einkommen der Haushalte gegenüberstünden. Darüber hinaus würde die Ungleichverteilung der Niedriglöhne weiter ansteigen.

Statt eines Mindestlohns schlagen die Autoren einen Lohnzuschuss vor, der die Sozialversicherungsbeiträge des Niedriglohnsektors reduziert.
