CEAST Celebrates 55 Years of Product Testing Excellence!
To this day, Founder and Managing Director Dr. Mario Pietro Grosso maintains a hands-on approach in the day-to-day operations of the company together with his wife Daniella, sons Luca and David and a dedicated team of skilled engineers, office and production staff. He shares some insights into the 55-year history of CEAST:
1953 - The Beginning
"It was a time following World War II when there was a great deal of desire and firm conviction to achieve and to accomplish. It was an exciting time for Italian industry, and this excitement is what gave birth to this company."
"We received our first order to produce instruments for technical and physical tests from the Polytechnic and University of Turin. This included working with instruments such as the Righi Pendulum and Perucca Electrometer. How did we arrive at producing instruments for polymer testing? It was thanks to the Marshall Plan that introduced us to this specialized field. We were commissioned to fine tune, inspect, verify and provide technical assistance for the instruments supplied under this plan to the recovering Italian Petrochemical Industry. It was from the experience obtained through this articulate and practical effort that permitted us to progressively develop our first "Made in Italy" CEAST instruments for polymer characterization in research and quality control."
"The subsequent realization of an operative Research & Development Centre, the presentation of our research at national and international conferences, our active involvement in Round Robin discussions at ISO and ESIS meetings, and our collaboration with universities and research centres on an international level have all contributed to the development of the present-day CEAST instruments that we manufacture and export throughout the world; not to mention our influence in the development of a number of testing standards and procedures for the industry."
"Our industry presence has not gone unnoticed. In January 2007, Confindustria, the association for industry in Italy, awarded CEAST with the Confindustria Award for Excellence, in recognition of our "Made in Italy" quality and design."
"Throughout the years our philosophy has remained unchanged: First and foremost, believe in our instruments; anticipate the growing needs of the industry and develop instruments to meet these new applications. Looking ahead, I see CEAST playing an ever-increasing role in the field of polymer testing through its continued collaboration with the scientific community and its involvement in the industry."
"My sincere thanks and appreciation to our customers and business partners without whom our progress – past, present and future - would not be possible."
