Since the beginning of year, a time slot booking is mandatory for raw material deliveries to the Slovenian Mahle parent plant. Mahle Letrika d. o. o., a subsidiary of the Stuttgart-based automotive supplier Mahle, has introduced the "TimeSlot" system of the Freiburg-based software company Cargoclix, in Šempeter pri Gorici. In the first step, Mahle Letrika converted the goods entrance to time slot management, with dispatch area to follow during the course of the year.

The aim of slot bookings is to rectify the morning peaks in the supply of raw materials so as to increase safety on the site and to make more constant use of personnel and unloading capacities. In addition, the OEM supplier wants to utilize the statistical evaluations to continuously improve the processes in goods receipt. "From one day to the next there was tidiness on-site. There are significantly fewer trucks around the ramps, the access roads are free and the processes run smoothly. Safety on the factory premises has improved considerably," emphasizes Jordan Drekonja, Mahle project manager at location.

Mahle Letrika produces starters, alternators and accessories for manufacturers of agricultural machinery and diesel engines as well as electric drive systems for intralogistics manufacturers and the automotive industry. The site has three goods receiving ramps, where around 550 trucks and vans are unloaded every month. A slot booking is possible from four months in advance to the day of delivery. For this purpose, Mahle maps the free loading and unloading slots for all ramps. The time window length is automatically calculated depending on the number of pallets or product category. The costs are 50 cents per booking, although Mahle Letrika covers the costs for selected logistics service providers.

With Šempeter pri Gorici, the third Mahle location has been connected to TimeSlot. After a loading ramp management system comparison in 2014, Cargoclix prevailed and was awarded the contract for the central warehouse of Mahle Aftermarket GmbH in Schorndorf and for Mahle Filtersysteme Austria GmbH in St. Michael, Austria.
