Bourns Announces New Low Profile TVS Diode

New smaller surface mount device designed to meet essential IEC ESD, EFT and surge protection requirements

(PresseBox) ( Riverside, Calif., )
Bourns, Inc., a leading manufacturer and supplier of electronic components, today announced the availability of its new low profile transient voltage suppressor (TVS) diode, designated Bourns® Model CDDFN2-T3.3B. Bourns designed its new low capacitance (13 pF) diode in a smaller surface mount package as an optimal ESD, EFT and surge protection solution. The new TVS diode provides reliable circuit protection for external ports in a broad range of electronic devices such as computers and peripherals, communication systems, cellular phones, handheld portable electronics and audio and video equipment.

The Bourns® Model CDDFN2-T3.3B TVS diode is tested to IEC protection standards -- IEC 61000-4-2 (ESD), IEC 61000-4-4 (EFT) and IEC 61000-4-5 (Surge). This latest low profile diode measures only 1.0 mm x 0.60 mm x 0.55 mm and is available in a DFN-2 package. It is designed to be mounted directly onto an FR4 printed circuit board, and its package size meets the surface mount component 0402 footprint.

"Not only does our new low profile TVS diode offer superior standards-based ESD, EFT and surge protection, its smaller surface mount package helps designers meet ever-smaller board space constraints and higher integration requirements," said Ben Huang, Product Line Manager, Semiconductors at Bourns, Inc. "This device is intended to replace Bourns® Model CDDFN2-T3.3LC surface mount TVS Diode, which was recently obsoleted."
