BMZ launches Europe's largest Service Center for e-bike batteries and drive systems
Range of services significantly extended
As Sven Bauer, founder and sole shareholder of Europe's leading manufacturer of intelligent rechargeable battery systems, declared at the official opening, the main aim of the new facility, which is located on a site totaling 3300 m² and initially has around 50 employees and more than 1300 m² of office, laboratory, workshop and spare parts storage space, is to relieve bicycle manufacturers and dealers in future with maintenance, servicing, repair and replacement part storage for a wide variety of rechargeable battery and drive systems. "One in ten new bicycles sold in Germany is already equipped with an electric drive, and year on year some 100,000 e-bikes are added to the more than 1.5 million Pedelecs already on our roads. In terms of after-sales service, this positive market development now represents an enormous technical and logistical challenge for bicycle manufacturers and dealers which can hardly be mastered without external support. With our highly modern, efficient service center we will in future offer these companies the option of completely outsourcing maintenance, servicing, repair and replacement part storage for their e-bike batteries and drive systems as needed. This not only helps companies to save time and space but also to increase their customers' satisfaction", Bauer is convinced.
With the new service center for e-bike batteries and drive systems BMZ, acting as an e-mobility partner for Deutsche Post, also wants to continuously extend their internationally leading position in the development and production of intelligent, customer-specific lithium ion batteries. The company, which currently builds around 70 million lithium cells per year into customer-specific rechargeable batteries and has its own production facilities in Germany, Poland, China and also the USA, currently employs around 1200 employees worldwide. Not least thanks to the strong demand for electric bicycles in Europe, BMZ is aiming for a turnover of 200 million euros for the first time this year. With over 100 different e-bike battery systems developed for customers, BMZ is today already the European market leader in this sector according to Bauer. "But of course we not only want to defend our current market share of some 60 percent in Europe in the coming years but if possible increase it further. We are aware that this can only succeed with a significantly extended range of services ideally adapted to market requirements in all respects. Ultimately this not only includes debugging and bug-fixing but also services such as rentable batteries, 48-hour bring-and-fetch services and much more. The recently opened service center for e-bike batteries and drive systems is a further important milestone on the way to becoming the globally leading one-stop full service provider amongst rechargeable battery manufacturers ", according to Sven Bauer.
