BIOBASE today announced their entry into the agricultural market with the release of their latest products designed specifically for plant researchers. The "green" versions of their industry leading BIOBASE Knowledge Library (BKL) and ExPlain Analysis Platform can assist investigators studying crop optimization, disease resistance, stress tolerance and other important areas of plant biotechnology research.

The BKL Plant offers Gene Ontology (GO) assignments, plant specific controlled vocabulary assignments for gene expression and phenotype attributes as well as signal transduction and metabolic pathway data. BKL Plant can also be integrated with ExPlain Plant for biological interpretation of large-scale plant data, including gene expression, proteomics and ChIP-chip data.

As part of the release, BIOBASE has signed global agricultural giant Syngenta Biotechnology Inc. (NYSE: SYT) as the first customer for their BKL Plant and ExPlain Plant offerings. "We are extremely pleased to partner with Syngenta for our plant focused products. Our collaborative relationship with this industry leader with a wide range of research goals is indicative of the overall value our tools and expertise can offer plant researchers worldwide."
said Dr. Muthu Meyyappan, VP of Sales and Marketing for BIOBASE.
