Bertrandt continues its upbeat performance

Encouraging growth rates achieved in the first half of 2010/2011

Bertrandt Group is still on its growth path. In the first six months of fiscal 2010/2011, revenues of the provider of development services were up by 37.6 percent, rising to EUR 267.8 million (previous year EUR 194.6 million). This was accompanied by operating profit of EUR 27.9 million (previous year EUR 19.9 million), while earnings after income tax climbed to EUR 19.9 million (previous year EUR 15.3 million). The Bertrandt Group had 7,592 employees on 31 March 2011.

Broad range of services for individual customer preferences

The upward trend in the automotive industry continued in the first six months of fiscal 2010/2011, with demand for passenger cars growing all around the world in the period under review, thus allowing carmakers to report strong growth rates. OEMs are increasingly spending on modern technology in order to be able to offer individual products to additionally reinforce their market position. At the same time, they are continuing to pursue their strategy of high model and variants diversity. External engineering partners such as Bertrandt are benefiting from these developments, which are helping OEMs and component suppliers to cover additional development requirements. "A broad and deep range of services as well as consistent customer relations based on mutual trust are the key determinants of the success which we are enjoying in developing mobility solutions for the future," says CEO Dietmar Bichler, describing the main elements of the Company's upbeat performance. This is also reflected in the Bertrandt Group's key financials. In the first six months of fiscal 2010/2011, revenues rose by 37.6 percent over the same period in the previous year to EUR 267.8 million (previous year EUR 194.6 million).

This was accompanied by operating profit of EUR 27.9 million (previous year EUR 19.9 million), translating into a margin of 10.4 percent (previous year 10.2 percent). Earnings after income tax amounted to EUR 19.9 million (previous year EUR 15.3 million). "Our aim is to continue positioning the Bertrandt Group successfully on the engineering market," explained Bichler, adding that "we want to systematically harness the opportunities for growth in the automotive, aircraft, energy and electrical engineering sectors as well as in mechanical and plant engineering and medical technology."

In the first half of fiscal 2010/2011, Bertrandt was able to recruit a steady flow of qualified employees: on 31 March 2011 it had 7,592 engineers, technicians as well as technical and office employees (6,523 employees on 30 September 2010).
