"The trend towards environmentally friendly mobility, comfort, safety and IT in vehicles characterise the sector," says CEO Dietmar Bichler, adding "At the same time, carmakers are broadening their model line-ups to satisfy specific customer preferences as effectively as possible." The demand for development work that is growing on this basis provides outside suppliers like Bertrandt with the potential to support manufacturers and component suppliers and to take advantage of further growth opportunities. The Bertrandt Group performed well in the first nine months of its 2011/2012 financial year against this backdrop.
Revenues rose by 25 percent to EUR 518.0 million during the period under report (previous year: EUR 414.4 million). All of the Company's divisions - Digital Engineering, Physical Engineering and Electrical Systems/Electronics - as well as its Bertrandt Services subsidiary recorded gains. Operating profit was up from EUR 41.7 million to EUR 53.2 million. Earnings after income taxes came to EUR 37.1 million (previous year EUR 29.2 million). The high level of capital investment was also maintained: capital expenditure came to EUR 31.3 million (previous year EUR 22.7 million). Worldwide, Bertrandt employed 9,555 engineering, technical and commercial staff on 30 June 2012 (8,049 in the previous year).
"Heavy investment by our customers in research and development, our broad strategic alignment as well as our financial basis constitute a stable foundation for continuing to benefit from growth opportunities," Bichler says.
