Automotive industry records appreciable growth

Ehningen, (PresseBox) - The Bertrandt Group continued to perform well in the first three months of fiscal 2010/2011. The provider of engineering services generated revenues of EUR 125.9 million in this period, up 39.2 percent over the previous year (EUR 90.4 million). Individual development services were the factor for success

The automotive industry was on a growth trajectory in the last three months of 2010, with European OEMs registering strong foreign demand and systematically investing in new technologies. Moreover, they are continuing to pursue their strategy of satisfying their customers' wishes by means of great diversity in models and variants. To cover these additional engineering requirements, external partners support OEMs and system suppliers by providing their extensive, integrated automotive expertise. The Bertrandt Group also benefited from this, posting revenues of EUR 125.9 million in the first quarter of fiscal 2010/2011 (previous year EUR 90.4 million), equivalent to an increase of 39.2 percent. This growth was generated consistently across all of the Group's segments - Digital Engineering, Physical Engineering and Electrical Systems/Electronics. Operating profit increased to EUR 12.1 million (previous year EUR 7.2 million), which equates to a margin of 9.6 percent (previous year 7.9 percent). Earnings after income tax were also up, rising to EUR 8.6 million (previous year EUR 5.3 million).

Dietmar Bichler, Chairman of the Management Board, attributes this good performance to the Group's broad and deep portfolio of services, which range from the development of individual components, complex modules and systems to complete vehicles plus related services such as quality, project and supply chain management. 'Our range of customised services, our consistently high quality and our stable financial underpinnings are helping our business relations to grow and constitute crucial determinants for success in a market characterised by cost pressure and intensive competition.' With its solid business foundations, Bertrandt is committed to enhancing its enterprise value on an enduring and sustained basis. The objective is to systematically pursue its strategy of growing in the automotive and aviation industries as well as in the energy, mechanical engineering and electrical engineering sectors and of positioning the Company successfully in the engineering market.
