Mix it! - Cocktails at the push of a button

The automatic cocktail machine

Four budding electrical engineers from the Grundig Akademie in Nuremberg have developed an automatic cocktail machine as a study project, and have decided to use Baumüller motors, software and converters to build it.

"Tropical Flavour" is what they have decided to call their creation. It can mix up to 27 different cocktails, both with and without alcohol. In principle, Tropical Flavour is built like an automatic beverage machine - all the various bottles required sit in a rotating bottle carousel. This carousel is driven by a Baumüller servo-motor from our DS range.

In addition, the Baumüller group also provided the technicians - who have since completed their studies - with a b maXX 4400 servo converter, including all the necessary ProDrive parametrisation software. The graphical user interface of ProDrive allows even beginners to set control parameters without having to go through the usual training difficulties.

Using a touchscreen, users can select the drink they want from the automatic cocktail machine, not without being given the chance to first read through the ingredients. The developers have even thought of providing a preview photo of each available cocktail.

Baumüller has a particular commitment to encouraging and helping the new generation of technical experts. We consider our support for school pupils and third-level students to be a natural part of our social role: "As a provider of systems for drive and automation solutions active on the worldwide stage, we are well aware that training facilities of today are creating the makers and doers of tomorrow" explains Jochen Loy, Business Manager of Baumüller Holding GmbH & Co. KG. "We see providing the greatest possible support for such facilities as our responsibility."
